Fequently Asked Questions

As you probably know by now, the World Shakuhachi Festival 2008 website is still being developed. This page will contain answers to Frequently Asked Questions about the Festival.

We have anticipated some of the questions on this page. If your question does not appear here, please contact us. We will answer as promptly as possible, and may also include your question on this page.

When should I register?

Please register as soon as possible. The sooner those who are planning to attend do register, the better the Festival will be able to finalise the event. Registration forms should be ready by July 2007. Special Early Registration Rates may apply.

Where do I stay while in Sydney?

Sydney Conservatorium of Music (SCM), the Festival Venue is located in the heart of Sydney. There is every level of accommodation within walking distance of SCM, from internationally known five star hotels overlooking Sydney Harbour, to inexpensive, clean dormitory style 'backpacker' accommodation, with daily prices ranging from AUS$20 to AUS$300 and up. A list of recommended accommodation will be posted on this site (see “Travel and Accommodation). Alternatively, accommodation, and air travel can be booked through the Festival's official agent, TBA.

What is the cost of travel to Australia?

The following are based on the most inexpensive fares available as of April 2007, and are for economy air travel in July 2007. They are approximate only. These prices are for reference only. Prices in 2008 may differ. All prices are in AUS$.

How do I apply to perform during the Festival?

Please email the Festival organisers. It is hoped that performance opportunities will be available for anyone who wishes to play, including 'open mike' events.
