The following schedule is tentative and still subject to change.

2-4 July
Rockies Down Under Shakuhachi Camp

Nearly three full days of workshops. Hands on practice. This pre-Festival event will be a combination of The Shakuhachi Summer Camp of the Rockies, The Australian Shakuhachi Festival, The Hawaii Shakuhachi Festival, and The European Shakuhachi Summer School. International finalists from Japan, the USA, Europe, and Australia compete for Young Performer’s Prize.

Special major pubic concert, premiering a piece for shakuhachi ensemble and Sydney Children’s Choir, and showcasing popular, unique and wonderful music for the shakuhachi in all of its manifestations.

Music Workshop - '…in the Between'

Excerpts from the Tibetan Book of the Dead, featuring Trikaya (Michael Askill, Riley Lee, Tensin Choegyul, James Coates. Two performances. Note: these are 'optional' concerts for WSF08, ticket price is not included in the WSF08 registration fee.

“APRA Shakuhachi Chamber Music Concert”
Afternoon concert for the general public; evening concert for WSF08 participants. This concert will feature mostly modern works, including world premiers, for shakuhachi and string quartet, etc. Second half will present compositions entirely by Australian composers.
